The battle between steel and aluminum continues

As aluminum has seized a large share of the market in the automotive field, it would seem that the metal is not willing to stop there. Demonstrating qualities more advantageous than steel in many areas, it is targeting a particularly lucrative market, namely that of cans.

A lighter can, therefore more practical

SONY DSCIf the weight of cans matters, this is explained by the fact that the fuel cost that will be used to transport them to points of sale will be markedly lower. The gain for the production of a can is therefore greater than that offered by steel in this respect. This argument has greatly appealed to large beverage companies that favor aluminum because its purchase cost is currently very low and therefore attractive.

A rather combative steel

aaaIn this conflict, steel does not admit defeat, quite the opposite. With the possibility of creating thinner but also more resistant cans, this metal remains the benchmark in the field for many satisfied customers. A steel can that falls is unlikely to be damaged whereas aluminum will absorb the shock.

Aside from the production cost, which is higher than that of aluminum, the discovery of the possibilities of a new metal does not call its qualities into question. It is therefore up to each customer to make their choice based on the elements they consider most important to serve their clientele.
